Description
Here's a cool vintage bowl, made by A.H. Heisey and Company of Newark, Ohio. This piece is from their #1632 line, called 'Lodestar' when it's this smoke color Heisey called 'Dawn'; the same piece in clear glass was called 'Satellite'. According to my reference, the 1632 line was made from 1952 until Heisey closed in 1957.This bowl is actually about 13-3/4" across, and sits only a hair over 2-1/8" high at the sides. The five-point star that forms the base of the bowl is about 7-3/4" across. It is marked in the center with the Heisey diamond. The bowl is in very nice shape with no nicks, chips, fleabites, etc.; I'd imagine there's some light scratches here and there, but I don't really see any - it's in nice shape. I'm betting this is a one-owner piece, as the lady who had it died at age 101 about a year ago (and it didn't really look like she was a collector). This is a really cool piece (the only piece of Lodestar I've ever had, so it's not seen very often, at least around here); I've got more than enough glassware in my life (and am constantly buying more), so this needs to find a new home.
