A FINE ITALIAN VIOLIN attributed to Giuseppe Ceruti labelled Joseph Ceruti filius Joannis Baptistæ/Cremonensis fecit anno 1850;
the two-piece back of attractive rich flamed maple, the ribs and scroll similar, the table of narrow grain, the varnish of original oil an dark brown.
Giuseppe Ceruti worked at Cremona and Mantua. Died 1860.
Contributed a set of excellent toned instruments at the Paris Exhibition, and came out the winner of the gold medal.
